New Showroom Location In The Heart Of The City of London For SBFI Group
Project Brief
The change in showroom premises brought an opportunity to move into the heart of the financial district of London. This was something that we took into consideration as a requirement, as the space needed to reflect our core business. Ultimately the brief was to modernise the company image and align it with contemporary design. We felt that our skill set with manufacturing and design was suited well to this challenge and used all of this capability to design a showroom that reflected our company strap line: Designing the Future Workplace.
Design Challenges
As the space was a complete shell, we were designing from scratch which is always more difficult and exciting than designing a space that has some dominant features already in place. We had to divide the 3000 sq ft space up into sections which would in turn imbue a sense of curiosity into a visitor. Rather than revealing the space in one go, we felt that this open plan but sectioned approach would create a better customer journey through the space, slowly revealing areas as they walk through.
What inspired us
Our exposure to contemporary office design means that we are always working with the worlds leading architects and designers. This was a massive inspiration for us and we wanted our space to champion the open plan and collaborative working style that we so frequently see. Our finishes seemed to follow on effortlessly from this, using materials like Oak to create a space that felt human and tactile. Classic designers such as Charles & Ray Eames really inspired the aesthetic of the space with their timeless designs, as well as George Nelson and the Bauhaus movement. This lead us to use simple but effective textures such as the oak cladding and plain black walls which helped us to achieve high levels of contrast and an effortless style.
Our London Showroom
Upon completion we saw our new branding up in lights (literally) and our new office space felt modern and contemporary . The new feel to the showroom is stunning and is currently being recreated to our showrooms across the globe so watch this space.
